Network Engineer
AWS seeks a highly motivated, top‑tier Network Engineer for the Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Network Scaling and Deployment team. This critical role will drive the expansion of AWS's next‑generation IP network infrastructure, innovating in network automation and cloud networking technologies to build highly available, secure, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, design, and execution of large‑scale network scaling and build projects, including high‑level and low‑level design reviews, bill of materials review, and defining and executing the overall scaling strategy for ADC regions.
- Develop and maintain automation frameworks that reduce manual operations, enabling rapid resource provisioning across AWS’s global data centers.
- Support 24/7 operations on‑call rotation and be available on‑site for critical events or needs.
- Maintain Amazon Web Services’ next‑generation networks for significant AWS customers by diagnosing, mitigating impact, and resolving large‑scale networking events.
- Troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platform performance, and configuration issues, including low‑level application interaction, Unix systems, and new‑age networking software tools.
- Lead network projects focused on sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, best‑practice application, and/or optimization.
- Collaborate with broader Network/Infrastructure and Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth rollout of new designs and products.
- Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance with policies.
- Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Create and review documentation and procedures related to network implementation, recurring issues, and standard operating procedures.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. After starting, the selected candidate must obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Basic Qualifications- 5+ years of major internet routing protocol experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant certifications (CEH, CFR, Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP).
- 4+ years of experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
- Knowledge of networking protocols including HTTP(S), DNS, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
- 1+ year of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell, or Perl.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, trace route, iperf, dig, cURL, or related tools.
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other R&S technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, and other networking hardware.
- Experience scripting in one or more languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby) or strong Unix skillset.
- Detail‑oriented team player with excellent analytical skills and a collaborative mindset.

Salary and BenefitsThe base salary range for this position is $136,000 – $184,000 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
