Platform Operations Engineer – Okta

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, this role ensures smooth operation of Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud. Working closely with the SRE team, you will focus on keeping production systems operational, managing capacity, monitoring performance, and continuously improving platform reliability for growth and mission‑critical users.

• Execute operational work, including updates, patching, and maintaining the Engineering Service Desk queue.
• Ensure team requests are triaged and actioned promptly.
• Monitor platform health and take steps to mitigate deployment and operations issues.
• Assist with capacity, performance, and scalability testing as required.
• Act as escalation point for platform issues from customer support teams.
• Execute runbooks and update processes as required.
• Interface with the SRE team to report core issues, required improvements, and new feature requests.

• General platform infrastructure knowledge, including high availability, load balancing, routers, firewalls, and storage subsystems.
• Understanding of protocols/technologies such as HTTP, SSL, SSH, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with open‑source technologies and tools like MongoDB, Node.js, and nginx.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders across domains.
• Strong multitasking and time‑management skills.

• 1+ years in a Cloud Operations role.
• 1+ years supporting large‑scale, mission‑critical production environments.
• Interest or experience in programming (e.g., Go, shell scripting, Terraform).
