AWS, Network Engineer
Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS Global Field Operations) provides end‑to‑end support for AWS products and services in non‑traditional environments. The GFO Technician is an experienced data center technician responsible for installing and supporting AWS deployments across diverse locations.
Key Job Responsibilities- Build relationships with internal teams and customers and devise effective solutions.
- Conduct site assessments to prepare for onsite installation of AWS equipment.
- Install, expand, and provision AWS infrastructure at third‑party premises, data centers, and non‑traditional environments.
- Troubleshoot network installations and configurations, perform network testing, break/fix, and decommissioning, solving complex problems.
- Proactively identify and implement strategies that prevent support issues and enhance customer experience.
- Conduct day‑to‑day business, internally and with external customers.
- Travel up to 30% of the time between locations to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment.
- Physically lift up to 18 kg and participate in team lifts of 30 kg.
- Lead or participate in developing SOPs and tools to improve operational efficiencies.
- Lead larger projects requiring cross‑functional alignment and support, including large‑DC installations, global initiatives, and growth mechanisms.
- Work at height to maintain AWS infrastructure while adhering to AWS health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain passion for technology and a desire to excel daily.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals, security, databases (relational or No
SQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, and/or Windows). - 4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
- 2+ years of leading large complex programs.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco/CCNA, Linux (Redhat), Microsoft hardware (installation), AWS, etc.
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
- Experience in a customer‑facing environment.
- Experience with network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Junos).
- Knowledge of power distribution and data center mechanical cooling systems.
The base salary range is 32.00 – 57.00 USD hourly for the Seattle, WA location.
