Day in the Life

Technical Program Managers in the VPC organization have a wide range of responsibilities: we work with Product Management and Engineering teams to build the core networking features and capabilities for all AWS customers. We drive programs which require coordination across multiple teams and disciplines to deliver the highest quality networking experience for our customers. As we own one of the largest public cloud networks in the world, there is no blueprint at our scale to solve every problem.

We encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration our customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective. Come build with us!

About the Team

The future of the cloud is networking and the future of networking is software-defined networking. Our team handles all of the AWS customer requests for creating and building their virtual network in the cloud - something we call the Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). This includes managing VPCs, Subnets, Security Groups, Internet Gateways (IGWs), Routes, Peerings, Elastic IPs (EIPs), and Elastic Network Interfaces (ENIs).

Every time someone launches a new virtual instance within EC2, they are using one of our services. From a technical perspective, our services are written using a combination of Rust, Java, and C, along with a few other interesting internal proprietary technologies.
