Lab Support Engineer

Are you a systems administrator, firmware developer, or IT support specialist who loves building end to end automated solutions to drive Amazon digital products' improvement? If so, the Device eXperience Automation team needs your help. We build the automated products with both hardware and software to measure the customer experience and digital products performance on the devices. We are seeking a Lab Support Engineer to assemble and maintain the hardware setups and hosts in Seattle.

As the device demand for our lab continues to grow, our customers needs engineers who stand ready to build and scale our production fleet, investigate and resolve complex technical issues at short notice. As a Lab Support Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for software engineers and program managers who request for additional devices to be built out through vendors or in-house.

You will support our production hosts and will also have a chance to contribute to the development and operational process improvement.

Key job responsibilities

The right candidate will possess diverse experience in both hardware and software maintenance. As a Lab Support Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Maintaining and organizing automation labs infrastructure and facilities.

Working with the Software Engineers, TPM and vendors to construct, assemble and test the complex electrical and mechanical computing systems.

Supporting the software engineering and science teams by maintaining and modifying the containers and robotics needed for device automation.

Provisioning the Linux hosts to perform the automated experiments and supporting host administration and troubleshooting.

Composing technical documents for operational process and troubleshooting.

Basic qualifications

4+ years of software development, or 4+ years of technical support experience
Experience scripting in modern program languages
Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
Ability to lift up to 45lbs and team lift 50-100 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred qualifications

5+ years of experience in IT as a Data Center Engineer, Lab Engineer or System/Network Engineer

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $182,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
