Senior CMDB Engineer

LHH is seeking a Senior CMDB Engineer to join our client's team in a full-time, hybrid role that can sit in Seattle, WA. Los Angeles, CA , or San Francisco, CA.

• $130k to $170k (DOE) + discretional and holiday bonus

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) or equivalent professional experience CMDB experience.
• Required: 5+ years of experience with IT discovery tools and CMDB platforms.
• Required: 5+ years of experience with Service Now Discovery, ITSM, CMDB platform
• Required: Strong understanding of networking protocols (e.g., SNMP, WMI, SSH, HTTP/S).
• Required: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Required: Strong design and engineering experience with Service Now CMDB, Discovery and Service Mapping implementation and optimization.
• Required: Strong understanding of network topologies, firewalls, and subnets.
• Required: Application Integration REST/SOAP APIs and MID Server configuration and troubleshooting.
• Required: Ability to create and modify Discovery probes, patterns, and sensors
• Required: Knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix Servers, Network Appliances, Enterprise Applications, Databases, Web Servers, and Cloud platforms.
• Required: Familiarity with various data sources for CMDB CI Ingestion (e.g., SCCM, Tanium, Intune, Discovery, Event Management, etc.), configuration and troubleshooting.
• Required: Familiarity with Identification & Reconciliation (IRE) rules.

• Own and lead the CMDB data model strategy, including CI classes, relationships, hierarchical service models (CSDM), governance standards, naming conventions, attributes, and relationship patterns across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Translate business and technical requirements into CMDB designs, models, diagrams, documentation, and enterprise architecture artifacts.
• Administer and maintain the enterprise CMDB platform (e.g., Service Now), including core configuration and CI lifecycle management processes (create, update, retire).
• Serve as the CMDB Discovery subject matter expert, establishing standards, methodologies, optimization strategies, schedules, probes, patterns, and rollout plans for automated discovery across cloud, on-premises, and network environments.
• Own CMDB Discovery operations, monitoring job health, troubleshooting failures, resolving data discrepancies, and coordinating discovery implementations with stakeholders.
• Define, implement, and maintain integrations between the CMDB and external systems, including monitoring, asset management, vulnerability management, cloud platforms, HR systems, security tools, and other enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and operations teams on MID server and connector strategies, connectivity, performance tuning, and CMDB-related operational processes.
• Design, implement, and maintain Service Mapping capabilities to accurately represent business services and dependencies.
