WhyWe Need You
PEMCO has a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an Underwriting Analytics Manager to join our community. This role works directly with the Underwriting Operations team to maximize performance through data and analytics, acting as the underwriting operations subject‑matter expert and liaison between the team and management.
What You’ll Be Doing- Serve as Underwriting’s subject‑matter expert on cross‑functional projects, collaborating, influencing, and educating other departments and leadership teams.
- Recognize resource constraints and actively seek ways to reduce manual work through elimination or automation.
- Engage with Sales and Customer Service partners to deepen their knowledge of underwriting objectives and integrate them into interactions.
- Drive improvements and efficiencies in Underwriting operations; influence managers and employees for rapid adoption of systems, guidelines, and processes; analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations.
- Develop, document, and maintain line‑of‑business underwriting guidelines to meet corporate profit and growth objectives and support pricing structure; propose adjustments due to market or regulatory changes.
- Develop proactive plans for underwriters to expand agency relationships, analysis, communication, and risk selection with agents to meet profitable growth objectives.
- Conduct educational meetings and activities for ongoing change management and underwriter professional development; assess needs, coach, correct, and improve results.
- Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO’s policies, values, code of ethics, and business conduct.

- Other duties as assigned.
- B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years in Property & Casualty underwriting roles with increasing scope, scale, and complexity.
- Prior experience in data analysis techniques and tools.
- 2+ years training and developing new and experienced underwriters.
- Insurance industry designations or certifications preferred.
- MS Office: skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Job‑specific: ability to use a variety of data analysis tools such as Tableau, advanced Excel techniques.
- Interpersonal Skills & Empathy: build relationships internally and externally; influence without authority.
- Communicator: clear verbal and written communication in both technical and non‑technical language.
- Business Environment: thorough understanding of the industry, business landscape, growth trends, and insurance environments; spot early indicators of change.
- Analytical and data‑driven: structured thinker; root‑cause analysis; develop high‑quality metrics that drive strategic objectives.
- Project Management: proven track record driving and motivating cross‑functional teams to implement technology or business projects.
Greater Seattle area target pay range: $124,244 – $151,854 (full range $103,536 – $172,561).
Outside Greater Seattle area target pay range: $109,648 – $134,014 (full range $91,373 – $152,289).
Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.
Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.
