Field Property Claims Adjuster:
Seattle, WA

This field role requires travel to and from policyholder homes. Candidates must live in or around Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities

• Conduct virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders' residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Evaluate and report on potential subrogation opportunities.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Perform duties independently, directly impacting management outcomes.
• Act as a company representative in public interactions, maintaining a professional demeanor consistent with management standards.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, fraud investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.
• Use strong customer service skills to negotiate settlements with policyholders.
• Promote safety at all times and comply with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in company manuals.
• Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will travel up to 23 days per deployment and commit to 13 CAT deployments per year.

Physical and Work Environment

• Climb ladders to inspect roofs and work on rooftops multiple times per day.
• Work in small, confined damaged spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
• Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams.
• Bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, sorting, carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, walking, seeing, speaking, reading, writing, and key entering required.
• Exposure to uncontrolled outdoor conditions, excessive noise, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and potentially hazardous environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment.
• Construction or insurance experience highly desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Outlook; proficient with smartphones and applications.
• Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage.
• Outgoing personality for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
• Valid driver’s license and bondable.
• Final candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle record background check.
