Rakhine Interpreter – Phone Interpreter

Work from Home – United States

$1.25 - $1.40 per minute (Independent Contractor)

The Rakhine Phone Interpreter handles on‑demand interpretation calls between Rakhine and English speakers, providing clear and concise translation across multiple industries such as healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel & hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911. The role is remote and requires a quiet, secure environment.

• Respond promptly to interpretation sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly, professional manner.
• Render accurate concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both Rakhine and English with proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all sessions and remain calm during challenging or emotional calls, including emergency situations (e.g., 911).
• Maintain punctuality and availability during scheduled work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol to ensure compliance with expectations for the Limited English‑speaking Person (LEP).
• Show cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a diverse environment.
• Manage call volumes and extended calls as required by the service environment.

• Fluency in Rakhine and English, including understanding of cultural dynamics and regional accents.
• Excellent listening, retention and note‑taking skills for high‑accuracy interpretation.
• Ability to remain detached, neutral and objective during sensitive subjects (e.g., end‑of‑life, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, sexual orientation, gender expression).
• Education or experience in language‑related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
• Minimum age 18, legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred).
• Ability to adapt to technology enhancements and client demands.
