Job Description
Harborview Medical Center’s Interpreter Services Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Interpreter 1, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Work Schedule- 40 hours per week
- Day Shift
- Enable patient(s) to access medical care
- Be a part of a team dedicated to improving language access
Job Responsibilities
- Provide oral, sight and written interpretation for target language(s)
- Transmit information accurately between patient and provider or staff
- Encourage direct communication between patient and provider or staff
- Manage complexity of cross-cultural encounter
- Provide sight translation in the presence of a provider and/or other medical staff
- Assist patients to complete medical, financial, or other forms
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two years interpretation experience in a clinic or hospital setting
- Medical interpreter certification or qualification either from Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Pay Range Minimum: $27.98 hourly
Pay Range Maximum: $40.06 hourly
