Seed IP Law Group is seeking a patent agent or attorney with a computer science background with three to five years of patent drafting and prosecution experience in a law firm, in‑house, or with a university tech transfer department. The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate or advanced degree in computer science and have experience with software, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Seattle, Washington (Hybrid, two in‑office days per week) – Relocation assistance is available.

• Prepare and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in computer science–related technologies, including software, AI/ML, data processing, networking, and related fields.
• Conduct patentability, freedom‑to‑operate, and landscape analyses to support client counseling and strategic IP decisions.
• Collaborate closely with clients, inventors, and in‑house teams to understand technical innovations and align patent strategy with business objectives.
• Respond to office actions, manage ongoing prosecution matters, and maintain a well‑organized docket.
• Work closely with other attorneys, patent agents, and staff to ensure efficient workflow, high‑quality work product, and consistent client service.
• Support the development and protection of client IP portfolios through clear communication, sound judgment, and practical recommendations.

• 3 to 5 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department
• Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong academic credentials
• USPTO registration required
• Authorization to work in the U.S.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $240,000, depending on agent or associate position and experience, with eligibility for a performance‑based bonus.
