Our AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement team is looking for a results‑oriented leader to manage and lead the team responsible for the operational support, performance management, supplier development, and lifecycle management of key AWS Compute and AI/ML products. In this role you will lead internal engagements across Supply Chain, Engineering, and Business organizations while diving deep into the technologies and operations from both a product and technology perspective.
You will lead the Strategic Sourcing and work closely with Product Operations, Hardware Engineering, Service Owners, Manufacturing Design Engineering, and other cross‑functional teams to develop strategies that secure supply, reduce cost, minimize risk, and utilize emerging opportunities, allowing AWS to meet and exceed its goals.
In this role you will lead a global team of sourcing managers in the AWS Infrastructure Sourcing and Procurement team, collaborating with leaders across engineering, finance, legal, and capacity delivery teams to deliver critical Memory and Storage hardware. You will develop and build a strong team of leaders, direct and indirect reports, and drive solutions to some of the company’s most challenging business issues.
This role is expected to develop a strategic procurement roadmap, lead and own executive relationships with key suppliers and partners, drive critical contracts and negotiate terms, and utilize data to drive vendor behavior, increasing overall value to Amazon.
The leader of this organization is a strategic thinker responsible for developing sourcing plans and clear actions to drive the lowest total cost of ownership fueling the exponential growth across AWS data centers. In this role, the leader will lead the organization while diving deep into the technologies and operations from both a product and supply‑chain perspective. The ideal candidate will have a large‑scale technical supply chain management background, be detail‑oriented, skilled at global supply chain strategies, and excel in creative problem‑solving, negotiations, and program management.
They will have a wide range of responsibilities including strategic sourcing, negotiating contracts, forecasting and strategic planning, collaborating with key vendors to improve performance and lead times, and more.
They will be able to work in a fast‑paced environment, creatively solve complex issues, and build scalable mechanisms of continuous improvement. This position will serve as a key member of the AWS supply chain organization, creating an inclusive and engaged team, supporting the career development of team members, and continually raising the bar when recruiting for the organization. Key Job Responsibilities- Establish category sourcing strategies for Memory and Storage Infrastructure.
- Drive and own executive relationships with suppliers.
- Develop category expertise and depth, including knowledge of industry, sub‑categories, supply base, benchmarks and indices, industry leaders, laggards, and niche players.
- Analyze category details to proactively ensure continuity of supply and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit Amazon.
- Influence suppliers’ roadmaps, designs, processes, technology decisions, and policies.
- Lead complex and cross‑functional projects.
- 10+ years of building and leading large teams and working in matrixed operating structures.
- Knowledge of distribution networks and channel P&Ls.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience working and communicating with multiple stakeholders, C‑level executives, and cross‑functional teams.
- Experience in strategic thinking about business, enterprise software products, and new technology platforms and architectures.
- Experience negotiating VP‑level contracts with channel partners and agencies.
