Transit Parts Specialist – Vehicle Maintenance Division. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventories of parts, equipment, and supplies for transit fleet and facility maintenance.
Responsibilities- Order, receive, inspect, store, and issue inventory for automotive, coach, and heavy‑duty equipment.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and cost‑effective inventory control using manual and automated systems.
- Process all phases of inventory changes, including sale, salvage, and cycle counts.
- Assist mechanics and shop staff in identifying and obtaining required parts, components, and supplies.
- Coordinate stock transfers and place orders for emergency supplies when needed.
- Verify incoming stock against documentation, enter arrivals, and charge to correct cost centers.
- Prepare storage space, load and unload shipments using forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
- Assemble parts kits for storage and distribution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Experience working in a warehouse or parts room environment, including ordering, receiving, stocking, storing, and issuing parts using a computerized inventory system.
- Knowledge of inventory best practices and proficiency with Enterprise Asset Management Systems.
- Ability to read and understand parts catalogs and technical publications for automotive and heavy‑diesel parts.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and efficient, accurate inventory handling.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to build effective work relationships.
- Completion of the Transit Parts Specialist Workforce Development Program.
- Completion of a vocational warehousing or parts counter training program.
- Parts room experience in diesel, transit coach, automotive, or marine repair industry.
- Effective communication, prioritization, and customer service skills.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license with acceptable 5‑year driving record.
- Must pass a post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination.
