Overview

This role supports developing the supply chain for multiple space vehicle subsystems and is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance across all facilities.
ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement process from requisition creation through final payment of invoices. Key duties include:
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to understand roadmaps and platform synergies; prioritize and execute program requirements to meet business needs.
- Ensure compliance with Blue Origin supply chain standards, strategies, and initiatives.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Proposal/Requests for Quote; perform cost analysis in support of proposals; develop and execute negotiation strategies; lead formal negotiations.
- Construct contracting types for major procurement activities (including long-range procurement agreements, sourcing partnerships, and continuous improvement initiatives).
- Own the procurement process from requisition creation through invoicing; resolve issues within the process.
- Lead identification, implementation, negotiation, execution, and management of strategic agreements (e.g., Long-Term Agreements) where mutually beneficial.
- Support the procurement organization’s strategic direction and ensure delivery of production materials on time, within budget, and meeting technical performance requirements.
- Influence, facilitate, present, and communicate effectively; develop processes and analyze data to drive improvements.
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or Master's degree with 4+ years of experience in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Experience interpreting and applying company policies, procedures, work instructions, and regulatory standards (e.g., FAR, DFAR, ITAR/EAR, SOX Compliance).
- Ability to ensure timely and effective completion of supply chain projects and initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with data-driven approach and experience establishing and tracking program metrics.
- Experience leveraging AI to augment processes and reporting.
- Excellent people and communication skills.
- Working understanding of AS9100 standards.
- Knowledge of engineering data such as specifications and source control drawings.
- Eagerness to identify opportunities, implement solutions, execute plans, and evaluate results expediently.
- Highly analytical and a strong problem solver with end-to-end focus.
- Deep ERP experience; adept at working with different systems and recommending improvements (e.g., ERP, MS Office, data analytics).
- Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.
- Current active DoD Secret Security Clearance and/or Special Access
- Space industry experience
- Prior operations or engineering experience
Base pay ranges vary by site:
California, Colorado, and Washington applicants typically fall within $ to $ per year. Other site ranges may differ.
