Key job responsibilities

Amazon Prime Air is building the future of autonomous drone delivery. We are looking for a Sr. Commodity Manager to drive key focused procurement commodity strategies for critical drone hardware, ground systems hardware, and technical services — including but not limited to propulsion systems, perception modules, structures, and electronic components. You will drive multi-year supply chain strategies, lead complex supplier transitions, and directly influence how Prime Air scales.

This is not a transactional purchasing role. You will define the "where, who, and how" of our supply base, make high-judgment source decisions that balance cost, quality, risk that align with program requirements, and build the mechanisms that allow procurement to operate at Amazon scale.

You will work at the intersection of engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and finance — serving as the strategic procurement voice in vehicle program decisions, trade studies, and make-vs-buy analyses.

Additional Responsibilities Include
  • Strategic Commodity Strategy & Roadmaps
  • Strategic Commodity
    - Available Supplier Assessment, RFI/RFQ, & Source Selection
  • Total Cost of procurement responsibility relative to strategic commodities
  • Supply Chain Resilience and risk management
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years of related industry experience
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments
  • Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction and key contracting provisions/requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in negotiations with global suppliers with a proven track record in cost reduction
  • Experience in procurement practices working with engineering, supply chain and Tier 1 OEM partners
  • Experience practicing best-in-class procurement processes (category management, benchmarking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, or equivalent)
  • Experience creating an innovative global supply strategy for the organization resulting in a tangible benefit to the business
  • Experience in aerospace, medical, automotive, or high rate consumer electronic industries performing hardware procurement / contracting and sourcing strategies across development, production, work transfer/dual sourcing, and exit phases of a program
