The Senior Manager, Corporate & Institutional Philanthropy leads strategic efforts to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic and sponsored support from corporate, foundation, government, and organization sources in collaborative partnership with the General Director, Director of Development, department directors, and other departmental staff. They work closely with the Director of Development to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate the overall fundraising program consistent with Seattle Opera’s mission and values.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Corporate Relations- Develop and steward external relationships to facilitate funding opportunities from Corporations. Meet with current funders and prospects to secure and steward contributed support.
- Create, implement, and revise a corporate philanthropy plan for Seattle Opera activities, including not limited to: donor benefit events, adult and youth programs, community engagement events, annual fundraising event, mainstage productions, and more.
- Create and update sponsorship proposals templates reflective of corporate branding and marketing/sales objectives.
- Ensure Seattle Opera’s active involvement with local business affiliate groups to build relationships in the corporate community and promote Seattle Opera’s brand, including the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Seattle Business Association.
- Develop and steward external relationship to facilitate funding opportunities from Foundation, Government, and Organizations. Meet with funders, government officials, and prospective funders to secure and steward contributed support.
- Manage relationships with family foundations in collaboration with the Individual Giving team to secure and stewards family foundation support.
- Support the Public Affairs Committee of the Board of the Directors, in initiatives or relationship-building to support the company’s objectives.
- In partnership with Programs & Partnership staff, provide direction on grant opportunities.
- Create and update proposal templates and language for new programs and/or grant opportunities.
- Support community-building efforts around joint funding opportunities with peer organizations.
- Work with Audience Services to promote corporate, foundation, government, and other group attendance at Seattle Opera performances, events, and activities.
- Create and implement the ongoing stewardship strategy and efforts for institutional funders.
- Ensure fulfillment of all sponsorship benefits for institutional funders.
- Plan and execute special events for institutional funders and/or prospects.
- Maintain accountability all Institutional Giving operations to the Development Operations Team.
- Build and update Institutional funder forecasts and an annual Institutional Giving development plan.
- Create and manage the Institutional Giving calendar of deadlines and activities
- Contract and manage independent grant writer and other contract roles as required.
- Establish priorities for work assignments, monitor progress, review work products, and ensure that high-quality relationship building steps are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Maintain system to track billable hours and overall expense for contract hires. Other duties as assigned.
