The University of Washington

Vice President for University Development

Bryant Group continues a partnership with the University of Washington in the search for a highly accomplished and strategic advancement leader to serve as Vice President for Development. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and serving on Advancement’s Executive Strategy Team, the Vice President provides leadership, oversight and strategic direction for a high‑performing, university‑wide development enterprise within one of the nation’s most sophisticated and impactful integrated advancement models.

The Vice President will lead, strengthen, support and champion a comprehensive development operation that includes central fundraising functions and services together with constituency‑based programs across schools, colleges, campuses and units. In a large, matrixed environment, this leader will coach and align senior fundraising leaders, set standards that elevate performance and accountability and partner closely with academic and administrative leadership to drive results and advance a strong culture of philanthropy.

The Vice President will also shape fundraising strategies, partner on campaign strategy and execution, engage selectively with key donors and serve as a trusted resource to colleagues and university partners in complex donor relationships and areas of complex giving.

This role blends enterprise leadership with the credibility of a seasoned fundraiser who understands both the craft and the enterprise management of major and principal gift philanthropy. The ideal candidate is a strong coach and partner who brings sound judgment, collaborative instincts and a proven ability to build trust, develop teams and create alignment across multiple stakeholders and priorities. The vice president must embody and promote the University’s and Advancement’s values as a University citizen and advance UW’s public mission through bold, coordinated philanthropic partnerships.
