Program Description
Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services work together in partnership to provide permanent supportive housing to individuals and families who have experienced homelessness in King County. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. We understand that people experiencing homelessness come to us with complex histories, and that it takes a highly collaborative, creative team to help end the cycle of homelessness permanently.
Grounded in this philosophy, the CCS Program Director at the Josephinum provides leadership and vision to a multi-disciplinary cross-agency team that works together to creatively support each individual or family in our housing.
The Josephinum is a mixed-income building of 221 units in downtown Seattle, with the majority of units set aside to households earning between 0% and 60% of median income. The building is home to an array of residents, some with supportive services, others living independently. The building is also home to Christ Our Hope Catholic Church, a downtown parish that has offices and a chapel.
The Church conducts regular services, sponsors other activities, and has developed considerable relationships between its staff and parishioners and the residents at the Josephinum.
Position Description
The Josephinum Program Director is responsible for providing daily leadership to the on-site team of CCS Josephinum social services staff, , CHS property management staff at the Josephinum, and other agencies that provide services such as healthcare or behavioral health services on site to residents in our building. The Program Director provides direct supervision to the CCS Josephinum services staff. The Program Director is responsible for coordinating the services of the third party providers by frequent and effective communication with a goal of ensuring residents are provided the level of services their needs require.
The Program Director works in close collaboration with on-site CHS property management staff to create a strong CCS-CHS team united behind a common mission of housing with services for vulnerable people. The Program Director maintains a mutually supportive and mission-driven relationship with the Christ Our Hope church.
Supervision and Leadership
- Provide supervision, leadership and training for CCS services staff and oversee services provided by other agencies. Conduct annual performance reviews with CCS services staff.
- Ensure integration of property management and case management services. The Josephinum staff works collaboratively as a team across many disciplines, and the Program Director provides leadership and vision for the entire team.
- Develop and implement program policies and procedures. Where appropriate, include staff and tenants’ participation in setting policy and developing tools for evaluation.
- Promote on-going training and support around best practices in Housing First, Harm Reduction, Grief and Loss, Trauma Informed Care, Secondary Trauma, Anti-Racism, and other relevant topics. Also ensure attendance at all CCS mandatory trainings for CCS site employees.
- Facilitate a regular staff meeting including all staff working in the building regardless of agency affiliation.
- Participate in responding to after-hours services calls, in rotation with other staff.
- Develop and safe keep a workplace which values and supports a culturally diverse work environment.
- Facilitate a monthly tenant meeting.
- As the representative of Josephinum, build relationships with local neighborhood and community representatives to further common goals. Continually advocate for the needs of residents and those experiencing homelessness in our community.
