Position: Senior Project Architect / Project Manager - Federal

Stantec’s Federal Buildings group seeks an experienced Senior Architect / Project Manager to lead the growth of our Indo‑Pacific delivery and execution hub in Seattle, WA. The role manages projects ranging from $30 million to over $1 billion in construction value, delivering high-performance, cost‑effective outcomes across the West and Indo‑Pacific regions.

Responsibilities Project Management and Execution
  • Deliver quality project documents.
  • Develop project‑specific management plans, execution plans, communications plans, quality control plans, and risk management plans.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
  • Lead project management and execution, promoting design excellence and sustainability.
  • Manage project finances using Earned Value Management (EVM). Monitor project spending with budget and schedule adherence.
  • Keep the Principal in Charge informed of project expectations, potential issues, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Maintain client relationships; lead stakeholder meetings and maintain all project records.
  • Ensure the project design meets the client's budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
  • Assist the Principal‑in‑Charge in negotiating and developing project agreements.
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to achieve target financial performance.
  • Oversee development of building documentation in modeling software such as Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams.
  • Guarantee timely completion of Project Management Framework tasks and proper documentation.
  • Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members, external consultants, owners, and contractors.
  • Manage and track change orders, contractor payment applications, and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to determine staffing needs and recommend personnel.
  • Direct client invoicing and manage collections.
  • Negotiate and develop various contract and project delivery types, including but not limited to design‑build, design‑bid‑build, and progressive design‑build.
  • Manage quality control of design, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, security, and environmental requirements.
Leadership and Team Development

  • Keep the Principal informed of project progress, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Mentor, motivate, and manage high‑performing, integrated teams.

Business Development
  • Lead and support pursuit efforts, including strategy, proposal development, presentations, and client interviews.
  • Proactively market and cross‑sell company services to acquire new clients and commissions, and develop industry relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
  • Licensed United States architect;
    Washington state licensure preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required for project.
  • Minimum of 15 years of project management experience in AE Services and Design‑Build projects, including GC construction phases.
  • Familiarity with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
  • DoD project management experience, particularly with NAVFAC and USACE.
  • Knowledge of all phases of AE projects and various delivery methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
  • Skilled in facilitating internal and external project team meetings, monitoring, tracking, and resolving issues.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach with clients, project teams, and contractors.
  • Effective negotiator and communicator.
  • Adaptive and strategic thinker.
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project; experience with Revit and BIM management preferred.
  • Ability to travel regionally.
Pay Range
  • Locations in WA, DC & various CA, MA areas: $ – $ annually.
