Rainier Scholars seeks an exceptional Executive Director committed to educational equity to lead the organization into its third decade.
Rainier Scholars offers a pathway to college graduation for hard‑working, low‑income students of color by providing access to transformative educational opportunities. Scholars engage in a proven, 12+ year program – from 5th grade through college graduation and beyond – that brings together the academic preparation, leadership development, and personalized support needed to graduate from a top‑tier four‑year college and develop into professional leaders in their communities.
ExecutiveDirector Opportunities and Responsibilities
Working closely with the Rainier Scholars Board of Trustees, the Executive Director sets the strategic direction for the organization, oversees all staff and programs, and generates support for its growth. The Executive Director manages 6 direct reports and guides a Leadership Team of 8.
Critical Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership – Design and implement a strategic plan, drive progress on initiatives to increase MGAA recruitment, retention, and overall program growth.
- Program Expansion – Partner with the board and Director of Strategic Growth to expand Rainier Scholars in the South Sound region.
- Revenue Strategy and Fundraising – Cultivate relationships with individual donors and other funding partners; solicit support and ensure sustainable revenue streams.
- Team Management & Board Leadership – Recruit, develop, motivate, and retain top talent; inspire the Board of Trustees.
- Community Leadership – Promote the organization’s vision and values, build and deepen relationships, and serve as an external thought leader on equity and education issues.
- Fiscal and Administrative Oversight – Provide sound fiscal and administrative management of the organization.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about educational equity for low‑income students of color.
- Experience leading a mature, mission‑driven nonprofit, managing budgets and complex scope.
- Proven fundraising and revenue development expertise with donors and partners.
- Strategic, entrepreneurial, and systematic thinking to drive sustainable growth.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and relationship‑building skills.
- Demonstrates the values of excellence, perseverance, integrity, and courage.
- Encouraged to apply if personally a first‑generation or under‑represented student.
Full‑time exempt salaried position. Salary range $175,000 to $215,000+, depending on qualifications and experience. A relocation stipend will be offered as needed.
