Manager Workers Compensation
The Manager Workers Compensation is responsible for mitigating Alaska Airlines' exposure to workers risk by formulating, developing, and leading workers compensation claims and litigation related activities, as well as driving down the total cost of risk managing workers compensation insurance and financing activities. As a people leader, the Manager, Workers Compensation is responsible for developing and executing the strategy and priorities for the team by leading the investigative and negotiation approaches and identifying key internal stakeholders and appropriate vendor partners to mitigate the financial risk of workers compensation claims to the organization.
Key duties include establishing strategic goals for workers compensation claims management, directing a program to ensure the proper and efficient handling of claims, assessing team developmental needs, leading complex insurance and risk management activities, ensuring claims are investigated and managed with company interests at the forefront, guiding teams in claim resolution, leading vendor teams and attorney partners, managing litigation response, developing insurance renewal presentations, forecasting budgets, managing insurance reconciliations, leading state reporting processes, auditing vendor payments, developing relationships with business partners, contributing to process development, and promoting a high-performance culture.
Required experience includes five years in workers compensation or risk management, two years of leadership experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, proficiency with Microsoft Office, a high school diploma, and authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred experience includes performance management, risk management certification, juris doctor or paralegal certification, a master's degree, ability to understand complex processes, claims and insurance policy consultation, understanding of insurance principles, ability to prioritize and execute multiple demands, ability to build influence across departments, proficient presentation skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellence in change management.

Salary range: $120,400 - $180,600 / year. Pay will be based on multiple factors, including location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees.
