In this leadership position, you will guide the strategic direction of SPU's fleet operations by developing and managing the team's work plans, driving fleet electrification initiatives, and ensuring progress toward key milestones established through executive directives, including the Mayor's New Green Deal Executive Order, as well as SPU's broader climate commitments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead SPU's fleet greenhouse gas reduction and electrification strategies, policies, and short & long-term planning
  • Develop and implement pilot programs that evaluate emerging technologies and innovative sustainability solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from SPU fleets
  • Manage the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across SPU facilities, including project scope, budget, schedule, and contractor oversight
  • Lead the Fleet Management team, including supervision of four (4) staff, fleet replacement programs, policy & procedure development, and performance reporting
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Analyze operations and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and service delivery for the Fleets Management section
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and service-level performance
  • Prepare executive briefings, presentations, and reports, including updates on mayoral directives and climate-related initiatives
  • Represent SPU on interdepartmental teams and citywide working groups
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Serve as a member of the Logistics Division's core emergency response team

Qualifications:

Experience:

Five (5) years of relevant experience in policy, organizational planning, project or program management, or advising senior management or executives on policy or program direction, or related field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, Environmental Studies, or related field or Seven (7) years of relevant experience may be substituted if applicant does not have a degree

  • Strong public speaking & presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences
  • Proactive & persistent, with the ability to navigate challenges to achieve results

  • Naturally curious with a desire to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve processes and outcomes

Additional Information:

Workplace Schedule/Environment:

  • This position will be required to work in the office five (5) days per week, individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor
  • Work is performed both in an office environment and in a public setting
