Team Read seeks an experienced and high-energy Program Director who shares our commitment to education, youth development, and racial equity. The Program Director leads the delivery, iteration, and expansion of Team Read’s literacy work, working closely with school and district partners as a key player on Team Read’s leadership team and supervises three staff members. This person devises strategies to support programming across all districts while upholding Team Read’s quality standards through fidelity to our dual-impact model.

This position is head of the programs department which includes leading year-round site staffing, training, curriculum (design, development, and production), as well as site support and evaluation to grow and deepen Team Read’s impact on student learning. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and located in the Seattle region with approximately 60% of the time on-site in our Seattle office.

KEY PRIORITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Leadership:
Collaborate on and manage annual and multi-year strategies for excellent, year-round literacy support across all districts. Oversee curriculum development/refinement, coach recruitment, training of all site-based staff, program evaluation, implementation and quality control. Create a shared understanding of Team Read’s model and how it is implemented across the program team and with site-based staff. Guide and supervise the development of tools and systems designed to scale and streamline program operations.

Thought Leadership:
Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director on growth strategies, identify and analyze trends and opportunities, and help to solve the challenges unique to small organizations whose ambitions are just ahead of its capacity. Contribute substantively to annual communications and development goals.

Stakeholder Communications:
Build strong relationships and communication channels with district partners and school leaders as partners to our mission. Contribute to telling the story of Team Read by sharing insights, anecdotes, and evidence of impact with the communications team.

Other Functions:
  • Support Team Read’s impact in districts, by coordinating with school district staff and brokering partnerships to serve more students.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director as requested, including annual budgeting and strategic planning processes.
  • Support staff in using Air Table (or other similar databases, CRM, or SIS) to communicate with families and reading coaches. Gather and analyze impact data using digital forms and small databases.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Experience:

  • B.A in related field with significant focus on education required, Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in education or education-related work, developing and scaling programs while leading others through growth and change.
  • Commitment to quality public education for all, youth development, and racial equity. Ability to articulate personal passion for Team Read’s mission, values, and commitment to equity.
  • Experience and knowledge of school district literacy programs and school/classroom operations and priorities; familiarity with district programming and operations.
  • Significant experience in developing and delivering curriculum and training for adults and youth.
  • Able to find solutions to a variety of problems, with a coaching and mentorship focus to help other team members do the same.
  • Leadership skills that foster team development and support.
  • Advanced skills in project planning, design, implementation, and management.
  • Strong skills in program evaluation and data-driven decision making; keen insight into best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience in equity-centered work priorities and goals.
