Job Overview

Project Manager – a critical role at New York Air Brake responsible for ensuring the successful execution of Mechanical Engineering-related projects. The position focuses on coordinating internal resources, managing project timelines, and adhering to the overall Project Management process within the company’s Quality Management framework.

• Drive Project execution using SCRUM principles to ensure projects schedules, budgets and scope are met or exceeded.
• Ensure Project Quality Gates (Q‑Gates) are held and the team delivers gate‑agreed requirements.
• Predict future planned constraints across development teams.
• Manage SAP PPM Project spend and labor planned vs actuals.
• Fulfill NYAB Project Management Quality process requirements for all projects.
• Perform SCRUM Mastering coaching and development for multiple SCRUM teams to improve overall development efficiency.
• Conduct backlog refinement and sprint planning as critical requirements of the SCRUM team.
• Manage project risk and opportunity using a register.
• Conduct proper project close‑out, including a project close‑out summary and capture of lessons learned.
• Prepare and lead monthly cadence discussions for Projects and EMS Stories for their responsibilities.
• Manage PAF (Project Approval Form) and PCR (Project Change Request) throughout the life of the project.
• Ensure all labor demand with SAP PPM is managed according to the active project schedule.
• Use Jira to track, monitor, and manage SCRUM team progress, including reporting tools.
• Perform necessary project “deep dives” based on project classification.

• Understands development, design, and PMI processes.
• Capable of managing multiple projects and communicating extremely effectively.
• Great presentation skills.
• Has clear understanding and experience managing high‑profile, high‑risk projects.
• Analytical thinking – collecting, analyzing, and structuring information to identify key issues and patterns.
• Managing & improving processes – planning, prioritizing, monitoring, and improving work processes and allocating resources.
• Strategy & vision – developing strategies aligned with the organization’s vision and taking a big‑picture view.

Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred majors include Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Project Management, or related majors.

Base pay range: $64,720–$97,080
