The Assistant Branch Manager provides day-to-day support to the Branch Manager with the core priorities of branch operations, profitability, sales growth, budgeting, guiding gross margins, operating expenses, safety, customer service, inventory, equipment, building and vehicles, community relations, accounts receivable, and fostering team alignment and addressing personnel needs through collaborative efforts.

• May lead and support two or more employees in the day‑to‑day operations of the retail store, including compliance, retail sales, warehousing and distribution. Supports scheduling and performance management efforts for retail store personnel.
• May recruit, support, and mentor the necessary team within your region to ensure your team and region reach their goals together.
• Create a safe work environment by contributing to zero preventable accidents, and by continuous compliance with company safety rules, standard operating procedures and governmental regulations required for the position.
• Coordinates deliveries with drivers and assists with routing; aligns deliveries according to customer needs, current delivery schedules, and availability of supplies.
• Works closely with the Branch Manager, ABOM, and partnering Plant to make sure delivery schedules are efficient and meeting the needs of the customer.
• Participates in execution of marketing plans to support the penetration of key market segments in collaboration with Sales and Operations teams and outside vendors. Assists with sales promotional activities, merchandising and displays.
• Collaborates with outside sales to ensure order accuracy and properly scheduled customer deliveries.
• Assists in guiding branch inventory, daily inventory cycle counts, and maintains showroom and warehouse appearance.
• Assists with overseeing all hard goods receiving and all dynamic deployment (hard goods inter‑branch orders) daily.
• Helps monitor SAP reports daily such as open order/delivery reports, billing and delivery block reports and open PO reports.
• Responsible for Daily Cash Reconciliation (DCR). Ensures daily completion and that all errors are addressed and bank deposits are initiated.
• Works with hardware vendors to schedule and hold monthly vendor product training sessions.
• Assists with associate training in procedural areas such as following all Airgas Operating Standards and safety regulations.
• Works in partnership with corporate accounts receivable to manage branch credits and collections.
• May travel to surrounding Airgas locations to assist with branch coverage or training when short staffed or in the absence of a branch manager.

• High school degree or the equivalent preferred, with one to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prefer one to three years of experience in an industrial retail, inside sales, customer service and/or inventory control related position; or equivalent years of experience and successful completion of Airgas Branch Management Trainee program.
• One year of prior supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.

• Basic product knowledge of welding, safety, gases and hardgood supplies is recommended.
• SAP or similar software system experience.
• Intermediate skills operating a computer in Google Platform environment is recommended. Knowledge,
