We are seeking an initiative-taking Tactical Lab Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and operational readiness of laboratory environments that enable innovative development efforts. The Tactical Lab Project Manager serves as the central point of coordination for lab standup initiatives, equipment planning, facility readiness, and project inception activities supporting emerging technology and research programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Partner with design teams and cross-functional stakeholders to support lab space programming, site selection, and design coordination.
  • Lead planning and coordination activities for laboratory readiness initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, milestones, action plans, dependencies, and risk logs.
  • Manage project scope from intake through design handoff and project inception.
  • Track progress and communicate status, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.
  • Support planning efforts for laboratory moves, expansions, renovations, and new facilities.
  • Ensure readiness requirements are identified, documented, and communicated before project handoff.
  • Coordinate planning for furniture, equipment, infrastructure, and specialized laboratory systems.
  • Track and report key planning milestones, deliverables, and performance metrics.
  • Support procurement planning activities for laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate vendor engagement, information gathering, planning activities, and stakeholder alignment.
Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Experience supporting laboratory, R&D, hardware development, manufacturing, or technical facility environments.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedules, deliverables, risks, and dependencies.
  • Experience supporting laboratories, infrastructure, operational readiness, or facilities-related programs.
  • Strong organizational and critical-thinking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively without direct authority.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Bay Area and remotely support nationwide laboratory initiatives as required.
  • Experience leading planning, readiness, or pre-construction/FEED activities.
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations, equipment planning, and facility programming.
  • Knowledge of EHS requirements and operational readiness principles.
  • Experience supporting equipment procurement and vendor coordination processes.
  • Experience supporting engineering, hardware, product development, or research organizations.
  • Proficiency with project and schedule management tools.
Preferred

Education and Experience

Education:

BS in Construction, CM, Engineering, QS, Architecture, or related field 5+ years of experience in project management, facilities, engineering, laboratory operations, or other technical environments

Preferred Certification

CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED #LI-CF1

Compensation

The salary range for this full-time role is $-$ per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
