Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with global operations in 6 countries and serves customers in almost 60 countries. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington (USA), Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide each year and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crew members in Alaska. Trident catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska.
The global supply chain also encompasses cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers.
Assists in coordinating and monitoring activities of workers engaged in the production process and processes seafood product by performing the following duties.
Note:
Meal Plant Key I residing in Trident housing will be subject to a co-pay of fifteen dollars per day for room and board, for each day that at least 8 hours of work is offered.
- Ensures proper use of protective gear, safe operation of machinery, and safe use of chemical cleaning agents.
- Reports continuing performance and attendance issues to supervisor.
- Receives and answers questions from workers pertaining to production processes or equipment operation.
- Monitors and expedites flow of materials within production area and makes adjustments when necessary.
- Trains workers in equipment operation and in processing and safety procedures.
- Communicates with Supervisors, and other Lead personnel any problems or concerns.
- Cleans, scraps, trims and fillets product.
- Opens and removes raw materials and places on belts.
- Segregates product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and places product in containers or on designated conveyors.
- Discards cull (inferior or defective) items and foreign matter.
- Packs product in boxes, barrels, baskets, cans, totes or crates for storage or shipment.
- Operates machine(s) to move live or packed seafood from place to place.
- Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety.
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
- Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notify designated personnel of any environmental and safety incidents, or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and or Safety training.
Employees working in Alaska are advised to have medical insurance coverage which is valid in the State of Alaska.
Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before.
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Training/SkillsAbility to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold.
