As a Clean Room Technician at Blue Origin, you will provide tactical and technical support to engineering, production, and manufacturing teams by performing functions associated with production operations in a clean-room environment
. You will carry out the precision cleaning, inspection, packaging, and preparation of aerospace hardware using specialized equipment and procedures to ensure cleanliness and readiness of flight and non-flight systems. You will also set up, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on critical clean room equipment, supporting operational excellence and safe, repeatable spaceflight. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and continuous learning in a dynamic, team-based environment.

- Perform general and precision cleaning, passivation, and inspection of aerospace hardware using solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and other precision cleaning methods in a controlled clean-room environment.
- Set up, calibrate, and conduct preventative maintenance on a wide range of clean room and lab equipment (e.g., pumps, filtration units, tanks, scales).
- Safely handle and move large or sensitive hardware using overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment.
- Inspect hardware with visual, UV light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
- Operate precision measurement and calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, height gauges, and optical instruments.
- Analyze and adjust fluid and solvent systems using titration and other laboratory methods.
- Package, prepare, and document hardware and supplies for storage or shipment.
- Maintain shop and clean room areas in accordance with 5S organizational and cleanliness standards.
- Adhere to safety regulations and use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Accurately document cleaning, calibration, test, and inspection results, and communicate with engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional groups to ensure production goals and cleanliness standards are met.
As a Clean Room Technician, you will be part of a highly skilled team specializing in the precision cleaning, preparation, and verification of aerospace hardware prior to assembly, testing, and flight. Your expertise will directly impact hardware reliability and mission success, ensuring that all components meet rigorous standards for cleanliness, quality, and readiness. The team’s cross-functional work supports composites, structures, sub-assembly, refurbishment, final assembly, and more, playing a vital role in safe, repeatable spaceflight operations.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience Levels with precision cleaning (0-3 years Level I)
- Experience working on fluid systems with applied chemistry fundamentals.
- Ability to set up, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on production and clean room equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights (stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
- Proficiency with a range of hand tools and precision measurement devices.
- Expertise in adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets.
- Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
- Additional experience in aerospace manufacturing or clean room operations.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
