Summary

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Technician (FSQA) conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of the production processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions
  • Conducts standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and international, federal, and state regulations.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with HACCP standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Records test data such as weights, temperatures, moisture content, qualities, and quantities inspected or graded.
  • Applies proper acceptance/rejection criteria and marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.
  • Audits production facility and reviews employee behavior for proper sanitation.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to Production/QA Management.
  • Identifies work‑related problems and recommends effective solutions as appropriate.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of company, government, and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
Travel/On‑Call Requirements

Not required for this position.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $22.07–$25.98 per hour.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in food processing
Preferred Education & Experiences
  • Three years of experience in food processing
  • One year of experience in Quality Assurance in a food processing facility
  • HACCP Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of food safety protocols used in food manufacturing
Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data recording

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced work environment

  • Ability to clearly document issues, corrective actions, and product disposition

Work Environment

While performing the duties of the job employees will be exposed to warm humid environments as well as short‑term exposure to freezing temperatures. Will be required to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and/or defects in food products.
