The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is an on-site position and requires regular attendance at the facility. They support site-level food safety and quality initiatives by performing routine inspections, documenting quality checks, and ensuring that production activities comply with established programs and regulatory requirements. This role works closely with Operations, FSQA leadership, and cross‑functional partners to identify issues, maintain accurate records, and support continuous improvement efforts.
The QA Technician contributes to HACCP, SQF, and quality system compliance and assists with internal audits and corrective action activities as needed.
- Perform routine quality checks on raw materials, work‑in‑process, and finished goods, including visual inspections, weights, size, mix, color, and other key attributes
- Document preventive controls, process checks, and quality results accurately (paper or electronic) and escape concerns promptly
- Ensure adherence to established process control procedures across the production floor
- Support the maintenance and verification of HACCP, GMP, SOP, and other food safety/quality programs
- Complete and submit all required QA documentation accurately and on time
- Assist in reviewing records for completeness and help initiate corrective actions for deficiencies or missing data
- Participate in daily FSQA huddles/shift handoff meetings to support consistent communication
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor, helping address quality‑related issues in real time
- Communicate quality expectations to production personnel and provide guidance when deviations occur
- Assist in plant trials for new products or process improvements under the direction of Technical Services or FSQA leadership
- Conduct regular food safety, GMP, and security walkthroughs
- Assist with internal audits and support the Compliance department in resolving quality issues
- Help maintain inventory of QA consumables, PPE, and testing equipment
- Participate in daily product evaluation programs, including scoring, sensory checks, and monitoring key quality indicators and shelf‑life assessments
- At least 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance, QA Analyst, or related role, preferably in food manufacturing
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Experience working in a manufacturing or food production environment
- Strong organizational skills with a sense of urgency and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with SQF, GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, and general food safety principles
- Experience working with the USDA preferred (if applicable to the site)
- Ability to work in a refrigerated environment (34–37°F) up to 80% of the time
- Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and documentation practices
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting throughout the shift.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse/production environment while maintaining safe lifting practices and proper body mechanics.
