, you will lead a team of full-stack engineers responsible for one of Nordstrom’s key merchandising platforms – a modern micro-frontend (MFE) and backend-for-frontend (BFF) platform that powers the internal tools and experiences merchandising teams rely on every day. Retail Hub is where business users across Merchandising, Inventory, Supply Chain & Operations come to manage critical workflows, and leading its platform evolution is both a high-impact challenge and a tremendous opportunity.

The Sr. Engineering Manager for Retail Hub is responsible for leading the development, modernization, and operational excellence of a full-stack platform built on the MFE/BFF pattern. Retail Hub delivers composable, independently deployable frontend modules backed by purpose-built BFF services that aggregate and orchestrate data from upstream merchandising systems. You will partner closely with business stakeholders across Merchandising, Planning, and Store Operations to deliver performant, intuitive user experiences while evolving the platform’s architecture to support growing business complexity.

You will manage a team of senior full-stack engineers and technical leads who set the quality bar for the broader Merchandising Platform Engineering organization.

• Lead and manage a team of full-stack engineers responsible for Retail Hub – a composable platform built on the micro-frontend and backend-for-frontend pattern that serves as the primary interface for merchandising business users.
• Own the platform’s technical roadmap, balancing new feature delivery with MFE/BFF architecture evolution, developer experience improvements, and operational resilience.
• Collaborate deeply with Merchandising and cross-functional partners to translate complex business workflows into performant, intuitive user experiences.
• Drive the design and evolution of BFF services that aggregate, transform, and orchestrate data from upstream systems – ensuring clean API contracts, efficient data fetching, and clear separation of concerns between frontend and backend layers.
• Champion frontend architecture standards including module federation, shared component libraries, consistent design system adoption, and independently deployable MFE modules.
• Drive alignment across the broader Merchandising Platform Engineering organization, managing dependencies with upstream domain teams including Item Hub, Vendor Data, Selling Controls, and Marketplace.
• Partner with Product Management to define and track KPIs, OKRs, and delivery milestones – ensuring technical investments map directly to business outcomes and user productivity.
• Lead operational excellence practices including performance monitoring, frontend observability, error budgets, production support rotations, and proactive reliability improvements.
• Recruit, develop, coach, and retain top full-stack engineering talent – building a high-performing team culture grounded in ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, system design, test strategy, deployment planning, and production operations to ensure excellence in execution.
• Promote continuous improvement by quantifying user impact, eliminating waste, increasing engineering productivity, and shortening feedback loops.
• Champion an AI-first approach to software development – embedding AI-assisted coding, code review, testing, and delivery practices into the team’s everyday workflow to accelerate velocity and raise the quality bar.

• 8+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering, with strong full-stack depth across modern frontend frameworks and backend service development.
• 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with demonstrated ability to lead senior/staff-level engineers and technical leads.
