Operations Manager
Position Summary
As a Vigor Industrial Services Supervisor, you will supervise Industrial Painter, Industrial Blaster, and Marine Decking work across multiple projects. Duties include installation of quarry, ceramic, porcelain, and mosaic tiles; soft tiles, sheet goods, carpet, carpet tiles; trowel-finished epoxy terrazzo, color flake systems, and underlayment. You coordinate all aspects of the craft including labor, materials, tools, equipment, change orders, and job hazard analyses, and may oversee lower‑level supervisors.
The role requires self‑discipline, resourcefulness, and willingness to assume responsibility for assigned crafts.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities- Lead and communicate the company’s safety culture and policies, hold employees accountable, and provide input on improving safety practices.
- Work closely with Production Managers and Superintendents for project planning: staffing needs, scheduling, tools, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Supervise assigned employees, including providing task assignments, ensuring completion within deadlines, resolving conflicts, applying disciplinary actions, and reallocating personnel across projects.
- Coordinate Quality Control Inspections to ensure work meets specifications and company standards.
- Prepare condition‑found reports (CFR), change orders, and job hazard analyses (JHA) using word processing and spreadsheet software; train others in these processes.
- Communicate changes in policies or practices, model constructive behavior, and provide suggestions for improvements.
- Train, coach, and mentor supervisors on staffing, scheduling, and supervisory functions.
- Assist the estimating department with bidding work.
- Review specifications, bid estimates, and budgets to ensure accurate, profitable assignments on time and on budget; monitor and report key performance indicators.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Spending 70% of time on the shop floor or vessel projects and 30% on office work.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Manage own time effectively.
- Follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules, and hazardous conditions.
- Give instruction to others assisting on projects.
- Present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
- Act as a lead and be recognized as such by others.
- Read, understand, and apply specifications, blueprints, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Identify production problems and propose solutions.
- Direct, coach, and motivate others’ work.
- Coordinate multiple project details simultaneously.
- Operate a personal computer and related applications.
- Interpret technical instructions given in mathematical or diagram form.
- Work with abstract and concrete variables.
- Resolve conflicts effectively.
- Use required tools.
- Prepare detailed specifications and estimates for competitive bids.
- Track and report shop and production progress.
- Adjust schedules to accommodate differences between plan and performance.
- Perform database operations such as data input, error correction, and reporting.
- Identify and assess risks and manage them.
- Analyze jobs for trends, process improvements, and recommendations.
- Schedule production activities including material costs, labor costs, and work hours.
- Delegate tasks and instruct using SMART objectives.
- Understand safety documentation and inspection procedures.
- Know QA and QC requirements.
- Recognize when environmental protection is needed.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the industry, with preference for those who have served in a supervisory capacity.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsSSPC PCI‑2, NACE CIP‑2 or SSPC QCS preferred.
Physical DemandsAbility to lift, carry 50 lbs, and maneuver objects. Must sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull/push 60 lbs, grip, and climb. Use mechanical means or additional staffing for difficult objects.
