Job Description

The position of Plastics Machine Operator is detail oriented and requires the worker to follow written, verbal, and physically demonstrated procedures in starting, idling, tending, and cycling plastic injection molding machines. Operators observe the continuous function of machines to detect and, when appropriate, correct malfunctions. The Machine Operator may be required to place components into or remove parts from machine tools in a defined order and manner.

Other responsibilities include trimming excess material from parts, electrical component testing, and light assembly. The individual filling this role will work closely with supervisors, co‑workers, and technicians to ensure safe operation of equipment and produce quality parts within specified time standards. Attendance and punctuality are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read work orders and follow verbal direction/physical demonstration to perform work required while meeting specified time standards.
  • Verify basic mold setup and machine program settings fundamental to safe operation of plastic injection molding machines and associated equipment.
  • Check parts for quality.
  • Start idled machines or assume control of machines in operation at the beginning of a production shift. Perform machine shutdowns at the end of a production shift, or in preparation for tooling and material changeovers.
  • Accurately record production data in both written and computerized format.
  • Ensure proper labelling and perform inventory transactions of production components and finished parts.
  • Maintain a work environment safe for self, team members, machinery and tools.
  • Assist fellow operators by tending machinery during breaks and lunches as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of surrounding work areas.
  • Communicate with supervisors, leads, co‑workers, and technicians regarding status of ongoing work.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Produce quality work at a consistent pace, standing on feet for an 8‑hour shift.
  • Self‑motivated with ability to work independently and safely.
  • Capable of both repetitive, focused work and multitasking.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with co‑workers and supervisors.
  • Able to understand and follow directions given in English when reinforced by physical demonstration.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Willing to learn and apply basic knowledge of the injection molding process, machine order of function, and associated tooling issues.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibit objectivity and openness to others' views; give/welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team.
  • Attendance/Punctuality – consistently at work and on time.
Education

High School diploma or GED.

Pay Range

$21.30 - $23.00 per hour.
