Overview
Are you passionate about transforming how the Oil & Gas and Energy industry leverages high‑performance computing on AWS to solve its most complex exploration, production, and sustainability challenges? Do you have technical expertise in energy workflows—such as seismic processing, reservoir simulation—combined with business acumen and go‑to‑market experience to drive cloud adoption at scale? The Business Development Specialist – HPC Energy Workloads will own the end‑to‑end go‑to‑market strategy within the Advanced Computing team, partnering with energy partners to migrate mission‑critical HPC workloads to AWS.
Responsibilities- Work with integrated oil companies and energy technology providers to optimize and scale their compute‑intensive workflows on AWS infrastructure.
- Lead the worldwide go‑to‑market strategy for HPC Energy workloads, partnering with customers to understand infrastructure needs, demonstrate the value of AWS cloud, and facilitate transition from on‑premises HPC to AWS.
- Partner internally with AWS service teams (EC2, PCS Batch, FSx for Lustre, etc.), marketing, professional services, partner teams, and sales leadership to influence roadmaps, ensure alignment, and drive execution.
- Conduct technical deep‑dives and capacity planning with AWS teams, and present at industry conferences (e.g., EAGE, Rice Oil & Gas).
- Act as a bridge between the energy industry’s complex computational challenges and AWS’s advanced cloud infrastructure capabilities.
- Provide leadership for specialists, architects, and partners worldwide, setting direction and standards for energy HPC workload migrations.
Required
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience with High Performance Computing (HPC).
- Experience in the Energy/Oil & Gas industry with understanding of seismic processing, reservoir simulation, drilling optimization, and production workflows.
- 7+ years of Go‑To‑Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting experience in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or related industries.
Preferred
- Experience solving problems with technology in the Energy & Utilities industries.
- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with major energy industry software platforms or customer‑facing roles in business development.
- Knowledge of energy‑specific infrastructure requirements such as high‑performance parallel file systems, large‑scale data management, remote visualization, and data governance/sovrenignty.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
