This role leads and supports hands‑on cheese production in a highly physical, artisan manufacturing environment. You will oversee production technicians, handle heavy cheese wheels, follow precise recipes, and ensure strict adherence to food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This position is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and has experience leading teams in a production setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and supervise production technicians during daily cheese‑making operations.
- Participate directly in artisan cheese production, including forming, turning, salting, and aging cheese.
- Consistently lift, move, and handle cheese wheels weighing approximately 40–60 pounds throughout the shift.
- Safely handle high‑value products while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow detailed recipes and production procedures to ensure consistency and product excellence.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, FDA, and food safety regulations.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with labeling, packaging, and preparing products for distribution and sale.
- Monitor production areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with team members to achieve daily production goals and deadlines.
- Adapt to changing production schedules and business needs.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Ability to consistently lift and carry 40–60 pounds throughout the workday.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a production, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Experience following and enforcing GMP standards and food safety procedures.
- Ability to follow detailed recipes, processes, and standardized production methods.
- Strong material handling skills and attention to product quality.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production demands.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Experience in food manufacturing or food production environments.
- Experience in general production, manufacturing, or warehouse operations.
- Experience working in FDA‑regulated facilities.
- Interest in developing artisan cheese making skills through hands‑on training.
