Our client, a leading technology and manufacturing company, is looking to hire a Technical Support Tech III (Powder Coating Technician) in Seattle, WA
.
Pay Rate Range: $25to $35, depending on experience
Responsibilities:
- Perform powder coating operations on manufactured components.
- Apply powder coatings using electrostatic spray guns.
- Prepare surfaces through cleaning, degreasing, and media blasting.
- Mask parts to protect critical features and threads.
- Load and unload parts from coating racks and fixtures.
- Operate curing ovens and monitor temperature profiles.
- Inspect coated parts for defects such as orange peel, runs, sags, and thin spots.
- Measure coating thickness using thickness gauges.
- Perform touch-ups and rework as needed.
- Operate and maintain powder coating equipment, spray booths, and curing ovens.
- Maintain powder levels, replace filters, and perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Verify coating quality and color standards through visual inspection and color matching.
- Maintain accurate coating records and documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental procedures.
- Maintain an organized work area and follow 5S standards.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams on coating priorities and quality issues.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of powder coating experience or equivalent technical training.
- Knowledge of powder coating processes and equipment.
- Ability to identify coating defects and quality issues.
- Experience with coating thickness measurement tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Experience with electrostatic spray application is preferred.
- Knowledge of surface preparation/media blasting is preferred.
- Experience with color matching and coating specifications is preferred.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Candidates with backgrounds in auto body painting, manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or industrial painting may also be considered.
