Welder​/Fitter - Navy & Commercial Ship Repair

Job Description

All candidates must pass an FCAW mild steel plate test- 2G, 3G and 4G positions- RT-tested to NAVSEA S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248. Come ready to weld to Navy grade standards.

What You'll Do

• Perform welding using FCAW (primary process), GTAW, SMAW, and copper-nickel brazing on a variety of base metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper-nickel, and nickel-copper, per qualified WPS

• Fit, layout, and fabricate per NAVSEA/MIL-STD drawings and specifications

• Work independently aboard vessels with minimal supervision

• Maintain weld quality consistent with MIL-STD-2035, MIL-STD-1689, and NAVSEA S9074 series requirements

• Set up and break down work sites in accordance with 009-series standards, including proper placement of welding leads, ventilation lines, fire blankets, and plastic/containment barriers

• Perform or coordinate paint abatement, interference removal, and reinstallation as needed to support the work scope

• Coordinate with QA/NDT personnel and support inspection processes

• Identify and flag issues before they become problems — we need eyes that catch things

What We're Looking For

• Not having ship repair or Navsea experience isn’t a deal breaker. If you’re a high-quality welder and fitter, we still want you!

• Combo welder/fitter skillset strongly preferred (able to read drawings, fit, tack, and weld)

• Strong working knowledge of applicable MIL-STD and NAVSEA welding/inspection requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work independently — we're a small crew, and we need people who take ownership

• Safety-first mindset paired with genuine common sense — no shortcuts, no excuses

• Current welding certifications (or ability to qualify to our WPS)
