** America First Works (AFW) is seeking a Press Assistant to support the execution of its communications and media strategy in alignment with the America First Agenda. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, media-savvy, and committed to advancing AFW’s mission through effective press engagement, rapid response, and strategic storytelling.

* Responsibilities and Duties:

* • Monitor media coverage and compile daily news clips relevant to AFW’s policy priorities and leadership.
• Draft press materials, including advisories, press releases, statements, media pitches, and talking points under the direction of the Director of Communications.
• Maintain and update press lists and media contact databases.
• Track and archive press hits, media mentions, and other communications metrics for internal reporting.
• Assist in planning and staffing press events, briefings, and stakeholder media calls.
• Provide on-the-ground media support at major AFW events, including check-ins, credentialing, and real-time coordination with reporters.
• Manage the press inbox, respond to media inquiries, and coordinate interview logistics for AFW spokespeople.
• Support the execution of digital campaigns as needed, including coordination with the Communications team for press amplification.
• Conduct background research to support messaging and press strategies on timely policy issues.
• Assist senior communications staff in preparing principals for media interviews and public appearances.

* Qualifications:
*
* • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science, public relations, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs role—preferably within an advocacy, campaign, or issue-based organization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to thrive under tight deadlines.
• Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Familiarity with press distribution tools, media monitoring platforms, and basic communications metrics.
• Comfortable interfacing with media professionals and senior leadership.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or travel occasionally for key events or breaking news response.
