POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
COMPENSATION: $,000 DOE
STATUS: Regular-Full Time/ Exempt
The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for all external and internal communications for The Salvation Army Northwest Division and its Corps/Service Units. All efforts are geared toward fundraising and increased awareness of the organization. The position develops marketing and communication fundraising strategies and manages marketing and communications campaigns for direct and in-direct fundraising efforts. This includes but is not limited to, direct marketing, advertising, public relations, and media relations.
This position must collaborate with colleagues, agencies, digital assets, and media partners to achieve its goals. This position organizes marketing and communications efforts through, but not limited to, direct marketing, advertising, public relations, collaborations with colleagues and agencies, and media partners. A successful Marketing and Communications Director will develop a robust knowledge and understanding of the organization's history and its mission to help further its presence in the community.
Furthermore, the ideal candidate is creative, personable, and enthusiastic for non-profit work.
The Marketing and Communications Director reports to the Director of Development.

- Manage relationships with marketing agencies for direct and in-direct fundraising
- Manage digital fundraising efforts for the Division
- Manage budgets related to Divisional marketing and public efforts
- Interface with the donor relations department to receive information about fundraising efforts, income, expenses, and donors
- Identify and manage advertising opportunities for the Division and individual units
- Develop internal and external communications campaigns for divisions and departments as needed; support implementation.
- Develop, maintain, and cultivate media relations throughout the Division
- Manage and edit fundraising publications for other Salvation Army publications (i.e., The New Frontier), websites, and events
- Act as point person and provide communications counsel for crisis planning and communications of various types for the Northwest Division
- Develop talking points and speeches for event speakers
- Travel and driving to various Northwest Division offices in the States of Washington, northern Idaho and eastern Montana.
- Perform other work- related duties as requested by the Director of Development
- BS/BA in Communications or related field
- A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in PR, marketing and corporate communications.
- Experience with in non-profit organizations is a plus
- Excellent digital literacy skills and strong written/oral communication skills, all with an emphasis on communicating effectively to a wide range audience.
- Ability to work with a broad and diverse audience, including but not limited to client groups, Advisory Board members, City, State, and corporate groups
- Ability to interface and collaborate with media representatives
- Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on writing
- Strong networking and social skills
- Working within or alongside a nonprofit development department is highly beneficial
- Ability to lift twenty-five (25) pounds
- Ability to complete MVR clearance/Online driver training; must obtain a valid Washington driver's license.
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training
- Working knowledge of website content management system
- Ability to maintain, identify, and establish social media avenues, such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, You Tube,
- Working knowledge of print/media production, such as flyers, brochures, and newsletters
Working Conditions: Standard office environment
Work Schedule / Location: Monday through Friday / In-person with opportunity to work remotely on a part-time basis / Travel throughout the NW Division is required to various offices and events in the States of Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana.
