About Us

King County Play Equity Coalition (KCPEC) is a network of organizations dedicated to challenging and changing systems to shift power and center physical activity as a key part of health and youth development. We envision a King County where all youth – and particularly youth from historically underserved groups – experience the transformative benefits of play, sports, outdoor recreation and physical activity.

Our

Values
  • Communities of Color-centered:
We shift power to communities of color to elevate the brilliance and expertise already there.
  • Empowering play at all levels:
We recognize the protective value of play and fun.
  • Collaboration across sectors:
We focus on systems-level solutions that require collaboration across public and private sectors.
  • Disruption of traditional systems:
We recognize and work to disrupt systematic racism and oppression that are upheld and perpetuated by the status quo.
Why work for Us?

Because we believe in the power of play—not just for kids, but for our team too! At KCPEC, we’re not just another nonprofit; we’re a movement (literally and figuratively) working to ensure that every young person—especially those from communities of color—has the opportunity to run, jump, and thrive. If you love building relationships, shaking up traditional systems, and bringing joy to your work, this is the place for you.

You’ll collaborate with passionate change makers, work alongside incredible community leaders, and see firsthand the impact of movement on youth development. Plus, we promise your meetings won’t be boring—expect high-energy brainstorming sessions, celebrations of small wins, and a team that values fun as much as it values impact. So, if you’re ready to engage communities, disrupt inequities, and make movement a movement, we can’t wait to meet you!
