We are seeking a Public Outreach & Education Specialist to support transportation and environmental projects through community engagement, stakeholder coordination, and educational initiatives. This role helps ensure that project information is effectively communicated, community input is collected, and compliance with public engagement requirements is maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement public outreach and education strategies for transportation or environmental projects.
- Coordinate with community members, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams to facilitate engagement and information sharing.
- Prepare and distribute project notices, newsletters, educational materials, and social media content.
- Organize and participate in community meetings, workshops, and public hearings.
- Track outreach activities, attendance, feedback, and engagement metrics to support project reporting.
- Assist in developing messaging plans, presentations, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
- Support compliance with regulatory and project requirements related to public participation and community engagement.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding stakeholder communications and public engagement best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Communications, Environmental Studies, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in public outreach, community engagement, or education programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
- Experience supporting transportation, transit, or environmental projects.
- Knowledge of permitting, regulatory, or planning processes.
- Experience with social media, community engagement platforms, and public education campaigns.
- Familiarity with working in public agency or regulated project environments.
