Job Summary

The Grants Manager is a self-starter who proactively drives the daily work of the Grants Team (including supervising a Grant Writer and collaborating with a Grant Administrator) to support the Agency’s immediate and long-term funding needs. The Grants Manager will work closely with the Catholic Charities Finance Team and programs, including working with the Senior Leadership Team and Leadership Team to scope and execute proposals.

The Grants Manager will have primary responsibility for day-to-day management of the Agency’s grant portfolio and will spend the majority of their time focused on: managing the grant calendar and leading weekly grant meetings; substantial grant writing in response to complicated public and private RFPs to support human services, housing, and capital programs; and supporting the Grant Writer in developing and revising proposals.

As needed and as the grant submission calendar allows, the Grants Manager will work with the Director to identify funding opportunities and/or collaborate with the Grant Administrator to successfully manage the lifecycle of Agency grants.

Job Duties /Responsibilities

Primary Duties
  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Grants Team, including but not limited to:
    • owning and maintaining the grant pipeline and calendar, including assigning proposals and delegating proposal tasks;
    • contributing to and implementing the annual grant funding strategy and anticipating upcoming grant proposals;
    • leading weekly Grants Team meeting to review current projects and upcoming deadlines;
    • supervising the Grant Writer to submit proposals;
    • collaborating with the Grant Administrator to submit proposals and reports;
    • interfacing with administrative and programmatic teams regularly; and
    • addressing other issues to maintain an effective and efficient grants process.
  • Take primary responsibility for developing and submitting grant proposals—from small and simple to large and complex—under deadline pressure in response to public and private RFP, NOFA, and other RFX documents to support ongoing operations of human services programs, housing development, and capital projects that fulfill the Agency’s greatest needs as determined by the Senior Leadership Team. Duties include but are not limited to:
    • communicating proactively with funders to ascertain upcoming grant requirements and deadlines and to pitch proposal scopes;
    • conducting independent research to develop application materials;
    • writing letters of intent; technical, management, and budget narratives;
    • developing and reviewing budget documents;
    • writing programmatic and financial reports;
    • facilitating and participating in collaborative writing and review processes, including giving and receiving feedback on proposal content in a professional manner that supports the best possible outcomes for the Agency; and
    • creating/gathering a wide variety of attachments in the style appropriate for the specific funding source.
