GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

The Archbishop, visible principle of unity in his archdiocese, is called to build up the particular Church unceasingly in the communion of all its members, and to ensure that their diverse gifts and ministries, in union with the universal Church, serve to build up all the faithful and to spread the Gospel. (Apostolorum Successores
8). He must take care that all the affairs which belong to the administration of the whole archdiocese are duly coordinated and are ordered to attain more suitably the good of the portion of the people of God entrusted to him.” (Apostolorum Successores 177). Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL

PURPOSE:

Promote an understanding of, connection to, and support of the anti-poverty work of the Church locally and around the world. Key areas include the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Poverty Awareness Month, Anti-Human Trafficking, Catholic Relief Services, Mission Cooperative Plan, and mission trips.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
1. Catholic Campaign for Human Development:
Highlight the work of CCHD grantees and their impact on poverty, connect to Catholic Social Teaching and theology. Work with grantees to produce short videos of their work and impact. Work with parish social justice councils to promote CCHD locally. Draft C2

Ps, newsletter articles and links, and resources for social media posts. Participate in CCHD National Grants program.
2. Poverty Awareness Month:
Work with Communications to plan and develop materials for Poverty Awareness Month campaign in January. Work with Lifelong Formation to identify resources that can be used with youth and young adults especially. Draft C2

Ps, newsletter articles and links, and resources for social media posts. Incorporate Catholic Social Teaching.
3. Anti-Human Trafficking:
Use USCCB materials to promote a deeper understanding of human trafficking, provide ideas and connections for getting involved, and work with Communications to raise awareness of St Bakhita.
4. Catholic Relief Services:
Promote CRS Chapters and Clubs, coordinate with Development to support Rice Bowl, provide witness talks as needed, and develop a prayer guide for Lent that incorporates Catholic Social Teaching
5. Mission Cooperative Plan: connect with parishes to encourage and support them to host in-person MCP speakers. P Assist with scheduling, testimonials, and follow up.6. Mission Trips:
Plan, promote, prepare, and lead one mission trip annually. Develop and manage budgets. Provide both pre- and post-trip education and community building activities.
7. Other: help with OVG events, respond to questions and calls from immigrants and others, attend monthly staff and individual meetings, and liaise with partner organizations and ministries.

ESSENTIAL

QUALIFICATIONS:

Primary:

Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.

Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained ministers.

Education:

a. Bachelor’s degree, certificate or significant experience in theology, pastoral ministry, nonprofit project management, or related field.

Experience:

a. Demonstrated experience in project coordination, especially working with marginalized communities.

Other Elements:a. Demonstrated successful ability to accomplish goals through collaboration and organization.b. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.c. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals and groups of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.d. Ability to travel within the Archdiocese of Seattle.e. Ability to work some evenings and weekends.f. Bilingual abilities encouraged

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
