Overview
This is an Ameri Corps/Washington Service Corps national service position with the Jefferson Land Trust. The role is contingent on funding and will remain open until filled. The Trust’s mission is to preserve open space, working lands, and habitat forever. The Forest Enhancement Steward will help protect the Chimacum Ridge Community Forest (915 acres) by conducting routine conservation activities, assisting volunteers, and interacting with the public.
ResponsibilitiesThe Forest Enhancement Steward will support the Trust’s mission by stewarding the forest ecosystem and fostering community understanding of ecological resources. Key duties include:
- Perform forest health assessments
- Remove noxious weeds and reduce wildfire fuel
- Maintain accessible trails and signage
- Assist with community volunteer workshops
- Childcare assistance – if eligible
- Health coverage
- Monthly stipend: $3,157
- Training
- Education award upon successful completion of service
- Permits working at another job during off hours
- Permits attendance at school during off hours
The start date is flexible, with possible commencement in October. Rolling review of applications and interviews begins in late May.
