The Director of Grant Development (DGD) leads the development of high quality, compelling, and compliant grant proposals, concept notes, donor communication products, and reports for governments, EU, UN agencies and institutional, foundation, corporate, and private partners. This role is responsible for translating program strategies and field data into persuasive narratives that reflect the organization's mission, Christian identity, and evidence-based impact. The DGD collaborates closely with technical program staff, MEAL teams, operations and regional/country leadership, and finance to secure funding essential for mission delivery across countries where World Concern serves.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Proposal & Report Development
- Lead in the writing, editing, and packaging of grant proposals, concept notes, capability statements, letters of inquiries, and expressions of interest to ensure the highest standards and timely submission of applications.
- Work with the country teams to ensure program descriptions, theory of change, logical frameworks, and sustainability plans align and are responsive to field needs.
- Ensure grant submissions meet donor requirements and are of the highest quality and standards.
- Coordinate narrative and technical inputs from program, MEAL, operations, and finance teams.
- Produce and distribute high-quality donor reports clearly articulating progress, impact, lessons learned, and challenges.
Donor Engagement & Research
- Identify and engage with new donors and funding opportunities that align with World Concern's mission and priorities to support and expand our programming efforts.
- Attend donor meetings and engage them with compelling well-articulated proposals that match their priorities.
- Develop and implement strategies to strategically position World Concern among mission aligned institutional donors as their go-to organization in countries we serve.
- Maintain a strong understanding of donor strategies, compliance requirements, and trends in the humanitarian and development sectors.
- Prepare donor intelligence briefs and advise World Concern's Senior Leadership on donor changing trends and priorities.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Facilitate proposal development meetings, including kickoffs, timelines, and compliance reviews.
- Work closely with Programs and Finance to ensure budgets align with narratives and donor guidelines.
- Partner with MEAL teams on indicators, data visualization, impact evidence, and learning integration.
- Develop grant acquisition templates and strengthen country teams' capacity for proposal writing, reporting, and donor relations.
- Develop technical briefings and pitch materials on organizational sectors of excellence to equip WC leaders to effectively represent World Concern in donor negotiations.
Quality Assurance, Compliance & Christian Identity
- Ensure proposals reflect the World Concern's mission, faith-integrated approach, safeguarding commitments, and ethical storytelling principles.
- Review and finalize grant submissions for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and donor compliance.
- Maintain templates, style guides, boilerplate materials, and standardized proposal components.
- Lead in ensuring post-submission debriefs and process improvements.
Travel
- This position may be required to travel internationally.

- Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
- Bachelor's degree in international development, public policy, communications, or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
