Overview
The City of Bellevue’s Office of Emergency Management is dedicated to preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters in the region. While first responders play an important role in disaster response, the reality is that improving personal preparedness amongst community members is critical to building a resilient community that is prepared for any disaster. The Ameri Corps Member will be responsible for building programs that support community members who have traditionally faced additional barriers in disaster response and recovery.
They will develop community assessment tools, outreach frameworks, training materials, evaluation tools, etc. to help ensure these communities have access to the resources they need to become better prepared.
- Build preparedness programs and tools that build resilience for underserved communities, including those from low-income communities or experiencing poverty, those with accessibility needs, and those with limited English proficiency.
- Develop, assess, and improve resources that the Office of Emergency Management can share with community members so they can take proactive measures to prepare themselves and their loved ones and be more resilient in a disaster.
