Position Summary
The role bearing the title Pastor of Family & Mercy Ministries is designed to complement the work of our elders in better serving the families of Redemption and the church as a whole.
Statistically, 72% of people meet Jesus before the age of 18. With that in mind, we see this role as an essential role in our ministry as a church. We also see faithful presence to the vulnerable in our city as a core response to the Gospel.
This role, in both of its concentrations, will be incredibly relational and operates out of the commitment to being present to God, oneself, and others who call Redemption home.

Time Commitment- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Sunday availability required 47 of 52 Sundays per year
- Participates in weekly planning meetings with other staff
- Present on Sundays (47 Sundays)
- Regular communication/check-ins with overseeing elder/elders
- Develop a robust vision for the discipleship of the children of Redemption Church
- This is not a task-oriented role, so much as it requires the development and execution of a philosophy of ministry. We want you to understand the needs of our church and cast vision to meet those needs.
- Maintain a regular connection (face-to-face, email, text, phone calls, etc.) with families inside of Redemption Church
- Know the children of our church and be known by them. Build relationships. Attend school and sports functions. Mark their birthdays.
- Equip the parents of our church to effectively disciple their children. Provide age-appropriate recommendations for Bibles and other discipleship materials.
- Lead local mercy efforts (focused on four areas: unhoused neighbors, refugees, Title I schools, the elderly) and foster a culture of service within the church.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with like-minded organizations in our community to identify ways that we can serve and impact the people of our city.
- Work with other local churches to build partnerships in this area.
- Create opportunities and grow participation by church members by casting vision for the church as a whole and specifically developing opportunities for families and small groups.
- With the assistance and oversight of staff elders, plan and teach on a variety of relevant topics grounded in the Bible/Gospel. Frequency is to be determined in coordination with elders.
- Plan and participate in teaching/facilitating relevant studies along with general oversight of studies and developing/recruiting other leaders/hosts.
- Teaching in regard to the development of other leaders in the church.
While we anticipate that preaching would be infrequent, we have listed the ability to preach as a preferred qualification.
Oversight & Administration- Responsible for the general oversight of Redemption Kids and Redemption Youth.
- Prepare volunteer schedules, organize and print curriculum assets, and arrange necessary supplies for classroom lesson illustrations.
- Ensure that Mercy Ministries, Redemption Kids, and Redemption Youth align with the mission of Redemption Church.
- Runs ministry with excellence, timeliness, and careful planning.
- Planning of teachings, studies, and events in coordination with staff elders.
- Recruit and develop teams as appropriate and necessary to support and expand these ministries.
- Manage budget areas relevant to your ministry to ensure healthy stewardship of church funds.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of these ministries.
- Holds a Bachelor's Degree.
- Agrees with the Redemption Church beliefs in line with gospel-centered (reformed) theology and commit to exhibiting a lifestyle that is consistent with the same.
- Fulfills the duties of a Redemption Church member.
- Fulfills the character qualifications of a deacon (1 Tim
3). - Is a servant leader who is positive, self-directed, organized, detail-oriented, and is able to multitask.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Has a deep love and passion for the local church.
- Exhibits strong discernment and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Mature awareness. Conveys confidence and competence to care for and counsel all ages/stages within the church.
- Has a history of active ministry leadership/volunteering with experience teaching in a variety of contexts.
- Holds a Master's Degree or M.Div. from an accredited (ATS) school.
- Comfortable, capable, and experienced in written communications and can write for the church (blogs, devotionals, weekly inspirations).
- While infrequent, the ability to preach while helping to plan preaching direction and series.
- Vacation – 4 weeks (160 hours)
- Salary Range (depending on experience and education) – $70,000–$100,000
- Sabbatical – This role is eligible for a sabbatical in the seventh year of employment in line with church policies.
