26-27 Jefferson Land Trust Place-Based Youth Engagement

This is an Ameri Corps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and opening until filled. Jefferson Land Trust is a grassroots community organization. Our mission is to help the community preserve open space, working lands, and habitat forever. We do this by protecting and caring for properties. Our efforts promote species and forest diversity, healthy habitats, and productive agriculture.

Youth education and engagement are key factors for the long-term health of the lands we protect and the health of our community. The member will help us provide accessible and locally relevant K-12 educational programming. They will serve students in public school settings and during field-based programming. The member will focus on improving engagement and social emotional learning. They will also support summer programming and habitat enhancement on the land used for education programming.

We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in early August. Monthly stipend: $3,047.

Member Duties :

The Place-Based Youth Engagement Member will support our mission by expanding education programming for K – 12 students. They will lead in class programming and field-based experiences; lead nature-based summer camp programming; facilitate family-friendly, community-based education outings; prepare education materials; conduct habitat restoration activities on at preserves used for education programming; recruit train, and lead volunteers of all ages, including high school students.
