Non-Profit / Outreach, Volunteer / Humanitarian, Youth Development
This is an Ameri Corps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. At the University District Food Bank, we believe food is a basic human right and that our neighbors deserve dignity when accessing food. We aim to reduce barriers in our community to healthy food. Our programs provide reliable access to healthy, culturally familiar food.
We do this through a grocery store styled food pantry, off-site pantries, a grab and go café for our unhoused customers, and home delivery service. We also collaborate with local schools on a backpack program to help feed kids over the weekend. We also operate a rooftop farm to grow vegetables for our pantry and provide youth focused gardening education.
Our on-site social worker connects customers to resources which promote economic, housing, and family stability. The member will support all aspects of our programming and have the opportunity to serve in all locations. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews in late August. Monthly stipend amount: $3,723.
- The Food Pantry Generalist will collaborate with staff and community partners to support University District Food Bank’s wide variety of programs. They will assist in planning, coordination, and operation of the daily pantry; receive and track donations and orders; sort and restock inventory; ensure culturally familiar food options are available for all customers; support food deliveries; assist with volunteer on-boarding, training, and oversight.
