Camp Erin® King County and Snohomish County are free, weekend, overnight camps for youth who are grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 (or 18 if still in school) attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Led by bereavement professionals and caring volunteers, campers are provided a safe environment to explore their grief, learn essential coping skills, and make friends with peers who are also grieving.

Make a Meaningful Impact Through Volunteer Leadership At Providence at Home with Compassus, volunteers play an essential role in supporting patients, families, and communities across hospice and palliative care programs.

As a Camp Erin Senior Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll have the opportunity to lead, support, and grow a dedicated volunteer network while helping ensure compassionate, meaningful experiences for those we serve.

This position provides supervision and coordination for volunteers supporting Camp Erin. You’ll be responsible for the full volunteer experience—from recruitment, screening, orientation, and training to assignment, ongoing supervision, retention, recognition, and support.

As a member of the team, you’ll also serve as a resource to other team members regarding volunteer services and contribute to the tracking, reporting, and administrative functions that support the Volunteer Services Program.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and Support Volunteers

    Provides supervision to volunteers by providing support, information, education, and feedback by phone, e‑mail, and in person as necessary; documents and tracks volunteer communication and changes in status. Tracks requests for volunteers, assigns volunteers to patients/clients, and tracks volunteer assignments. Ensures volunteer assignments are documented accurately in electronic medical records. Reviews and tracks volunteer documentation, including time sheets and entry of volunteer hours into databases.

    Corrects or amends documentation as necessary and follows up on documentation issues with volunteers.

  • Recruit, Train, and Develop Volunteers

    Interviews, screens and facilitates required intake process for new volunteers; ensures completion of orientation/training checklists. Collaborates with Grief Support Services and Volunteer Services to plan volunteer trainings; assists with training and education events and other special events as needed. Performs annual written evaluations of volunteer performance; tracks receipt of program evaluations returned by volunteers. Collaborates on design, writing, and editing of quarterly volunteer newsletter, and creates and/or contributes to other volunteer communication materials as necessary.

  • Support Camp Erin

    As the Camp Erin designee, this position plays an important role in planning and supporting this meaningful grief‑support experience for children and families. Ensures all materials (e.g., t-shirts, name tags) necessary for camp are selected, ordered and secured in a timely manner. Ensures appropriate maintenance and security of information related to camper applicants. Ensures serves as primary contact for triaging logistical camp needs during camp weekend.

    Ensures coordinates post‑camp debriefing sessions and appreciation party for camp volunteers. Provides ongoing supervision and support to camp volunteers throughout development and implementation of camp. Collaborate.

  • Collaborate Across the Hospice Team

    Provides information to prospective Camp Erin volunteers about volunteer program, including mailing volunteer brochures and applications; participates in community activities, networking, and public relations as needed. Collaborates with Grief Services Team and Volunteer Services Department to ensure compliance with all state, federal and Providence at Home with Compassus requirements. Responsible for maintaining awareness of professional Scope of Practice and Hospice Conditions of Participation.

    Adheres to Providence policies and procedures, and applicable regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
